3rd Animo Sprint Triathlon

Guys,

Sharing with you some of the pictures from the recently concluded 3rd Animo Sprint Triathlon. This is our annual sporting event organized to help raise funds and awareness for the Saint Jaime HIlario-La Salle Integrated School in Bataan.

We set yet another record in attendance this year with about 500 athletes participating of which 105 were kids (we call Super Tri Kids) below the age of 12. The Animo Triathlon has become the biggest triathlon race in Metro Manila and the 2nd biggest Triathlon event in the country (2nd only to 70.3 Miler Ironman in Camsur). It’s also become the venue for beginners to get into the sport and hard core athletes to converge and do battle. To add to the excitement, we also had a side event – the Ateneo-La Salle-UP triathlon showdown which was won by De La Salle!

Trixie Guerrero did the full Sprint distance and we are proud of our batchmate’s incredible achievement. There were also other Taft and Greenhills alumnae such as Joey Paiso and LJ Koh of batch 80 and Joey Torres who was our batchmate up to grade 7 in Taft. Olympian Guy Concepcion was also there and won the 40-44 age group.

Peewee Ticzon, Rae Manaloto, Jun Benito and Trixie were there to lend support to the event. Dian Castillejo was also a participant….Papa Piolo signed up but got sick two days before the event so wasn’t able to compete.

Congratulations to Trixie for completing the full distance. If Trixie can do it, so can all of you.

The event was covered by Unang Hirit, Solar Sports, Sports Unlimited, Studio 23, Philippine Star, etc, etc, etc….

Overall, it was a huge success….

Animo La Salle!

FSC Bulletin 2010 - 08: Ed Cadlum +

Excerpt from the bulletin released Feb. 21 Manila time by DLS Brother Visitor Edmundo Fernandez, FSC, on our former De La Salle grade school mentor:

**********************************
21 February 2010

2010 - 08

Mr. Edgardo Cadlum. Beloved teacher, Principal, and friend of many Lasallians, Mr. Ed Cadlum returned to his Creator at the age of 77 on 16 February 2010. A few days before, Ed was visited by a priest from whom he received the sacrament of final anointing. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and four children. His body lies at state at the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament (main chapel) of De La Salle University. He will be buried in Matandang Gasan, Marinduque.
Ed graduated from De La Salle University around 1955, joined the school as a catechist, then a teacher, Academic Coordinator, and became the first lay Principal of De La Salle Grade School in 1976. When the Grade School moved to Ayala, Alabang (DLSZ) in 1977 he became its first

Principal and eventually its Director. He served DLSZ until his retirement in 1991. After retirement, he shifted to farming in Marinduque and continued to be involved in his first love, the apostolate of education both in Marinduque and as a consultant to some educational institutions in the Manila area.

Today's Mass readings  |  Today's meditation

"I will always look upon the work of my salvation, and the foundation and government of our community, as the work of God; hence I will abandon the care of both to him, acting only through his orders..."
